Community cinema that brings stories and people together
At Fundación Dos Aguas, we believe cinema can be much more than entertainment. Through our Cinema by the Sea program, we create shared spaces where film becomes a tool for learning, reflection, and community connection.
Through film forums, open-air screenings, and spaces for dialogue, we invite children, young people, and families to experience stories that inspire conversation, strengthen community ties, and open new ways of understanding the world.
By gathering on the beach to watch films together, cinema becomes a collective experience—one that encourages curiosity, empathy, and imagination while strengthening the cultural life of Rincón del Mar.
The Challenge:
Access to Culture and Shared Spaces
In many rural territories, access to cultural experiences such as cinema remains limited. For many children and families in Rincón del Mar, opportunities to watch films, reflect on social realities, and explore stories from other places are rare.
At the same time, communities benefit greatly from spaces where people can gather, share ideas, and build connections across generations.
Cinema becomes a powerful medium to spark conversations about identity, community life, social realities, and the possibilities for the future.
Creating Spaces for Community Cinema
Through the Cinema by the Sea program, Fundación Dos Aguas has integrated community cinema as an educational, cultural, and participatory tool.
Our initiatives include:
Community film screenings on the beach
Open to all residents, creating a welcoming space for families, children, and youth to enjoy cinema together.
Film forums and dialogue sessions
To encourage reflection on social issues, collective memory, and the future of the community.
Growth through audiovisuals
Helping young people explore stories and perspectives through film.
Workshops in community cinema
In 2026, we worked with the Fondo Mixto de Promoción Cinematográfica Proimágenes to bring a trainning process in community cinema.
