Animal Welfare
Animal Welfare
Caring for life and nurturing a more harmonious community in Rincón del Mar.
The Animal Welfare program promotes a healthier, more responsible and compassionate relationship between the community and the animals that live in Rincón del Mar.
Through veterinary campaigns, including sterilizations, consultations, medications and awareness spaces, we aim to improve the quality of life of dogs and cats, while transforming the way families relate to them.
For Fundación Dos Aguas, animal welfare is an essential part of collective wellbeing. When a community learns to care for and respect animals, it also strengthens values of empathy, responsibility and coexistence that positively impact the entire territory.
The challenge:
noone left behind
Rincón del Mar is home to hundreds of dogs and cats that are part of daily life in the village, sharing their affection with both residents and travelers.
However:
-
Animal overpopulation increases the risk of disease, malnutrition and mistreatment.
-
Access to veterinary services is limited and often expensive.
-
Many families lack information about proper pet care and animal wellbeing.
-
Many households do not have the resources to pay for consultations or medications, which often require traveling to the city.
-
Cases of abandonment, malnutrition and illness affect both public health and community coexistence.
Social change through animal welfare
Through trust-based engagement and a non-judgmental approach, our veterinary campaigns create meaningful changes in the relationship between community members and their pets.
Results and Impact
Since 2022, we have organized nine (9) Veterinary Campaigns, directly benefiting both the animals and the families of Rincón del Mar.
- 364 dogs and cats sterilized, helping reduce uncontrolled reproduction.
-
Gradual reduction in abandonment and unwanted litters.
-
Greater community awareness about responsible and compassionate animal care.
-
Access to veterinary consultations, medications, deworming treatments, anti-tick medicine, and food for community pets.
-
A gradual transformation in coexistence: today we see more respect, greater care, and less mistreatment.
Animal welfare has become a gateway to strengthening empathy within the community and building a more humane and compassionate territory.
